MLA? Research Paper Time!

For today, and the next few (If things go as planned) I will be working on my research paper. Using the resources provided by school and my teacher, I will write a research paper that is about 5-7 pages long. Firstly however, I must make sure I know how to properly write one, in MLA format. Hopefully things go well and I do great! I will keep you posted on my progress.

The Hunt For Information!

For today and many days after, I will be conducting some research for my project. The information basically forms the foundation of my project and is quite critical. I am on the hunt for it, as it does not just come from everywhere. I have to make sure its credible and etc. I shall keep you posted on what information I find and keep you posted.

Time Dig Deeper & To Get a Move On!

Today I will take time to explore what the actual story of "Romeo & Juliet" means and symbolizes. I also plan to finish the book. I must get a move on and dig deeper into the story itself. I will write a tiny article for you about my findings. It will be coming soon.

Half Way There!

We're half way there, ohhhh livin' on a prayer
Take my hand and we'll make it I swear ohhhh livin' on a prayer.

Well reading "Romeo and Juliet" is actually not as bad as expected. I thought it would be really boring and that nothing would make sense, but it turns out to be the opposite! I really enjoy reading this book and this goes to show, don't judge a book by its cover (or from what you heard from other people). I am already half way through the book and it has been really good. I hope to finish it soon! :)

Maintenance Day

Like a machine, everything needs some maintenance every once in a while. Today I will be fixing up some things in my project (behind the scenes), also reading more into the story that the project revolves around. Not much can be done until its complete. Without this much needed maintenance, my project could very easily fall apart, so it is vital!

Hate In Society- What is "Hate"?

When I think about this topic I come to wonder, what exactly is "hate"? Well in the dictionary is it described as this.

Hate –verb-transitive
To feel hostility or animosity toward.
To detest.
To feel dislike or distaste for: hates washing dishes.

Well, hatred (or hate) is a deep and emotional extreme dislike, directed against a certain object or class of objects. The objects of such hatred can vary widely, from inanimate objects to animals, oneself or other people, entire groups of people, people in general basically almost everything. Hatred can become very driven. It can cause you to do things that you would never even think of doing without hesitation. Hatred can go as far as war or just a simple verbal outrage to even oneself committing suicide or even hurting others. It can easily form from the most ridiculous of things, but thrive within you for the rest of your life. I will be exploring more in this topic as it has direct relation to Romeo and Juliet.

I'm Back! With A New Project...

The start of this project was quite difficult for me, as I did not know we had started already. But anyways, it is yet again, another Special Interest Project... Wooh... :T. This time it revolves around, Shakespeares very own "Romeo and Juliet". I will be exploring Hate In Society and will be writing a research paper. But first things first... A friend mentioned to me, how do I even write one properly? Also I must set up a few things, for the foundation of my project, among other things.

Project Time With Jacky! Week 2- Fun Facts!

Furthering my research for my project, I have come across some important fun facts that I would like to share with you. Lets take it from the top, well first lets think about the distance around the world. If you travel on the equator its about 24,901.5 miles to travel around the world. People before could not possibly travel on the equator the whole time, so the distance would be longer. In the novel I'm reading the main character travels around the world in 80 days, that means based on the equator distance; which is the longest, he would have to travel about 311.2 miles a day! Whoa, now thats a long distance, its a little more than the width of France! Although the book is fiction, are there actual people that traveled the around the world? The answer is yes! The first KNOWN person to circumnavigate the world was one named Ferdinand Magellan, in 1519. People before could have done this as well, but it was not documented. I would suspect the Vikings did. To travel far, you can't just pack up some clothes a go, you will probably need A LOT of equipment and food to keep you nourished. If you are going to travel great distances, like around the world, your are going to need some exploration basics. A compass for example to help you with with direction to go, otherwise you might just be going in circles. Did you know that before Europeans set out for exploration, they gained a lot of technologies from the Muslims during the crusades to help them travel. A great example would be the compass and new designs of ships. Food wise, your going to need a lot of proteins and vitamins and nutrients found in fruits. You wouldn't want to get scurvy, a disease caused by malnutrition and lack of vitamin C. Many sailors in the past actually suffered from this as they did not have much nutrition on the seas. British sailors where actually called "limeys" from all the limes they ate to prevent scurvy. I shall conclude here as if not, I will ramble on and on. I hope you are enjoying these posts, and there will be more as I progress in my project.

Project Time With Jacky! Day 2

"Today folks, I am just going to read the book "Around the World in 80 Days" by- Jules Verne to further my understanding of the topic. If you like you could read along with me as I read about the adventures of Phileas Fogg! Heres a link to the online text! :) http://www.literature.org/authors/verne-jules/eighty/"

Project Time With Jacky! Day 1

For this post and future posts, I will be sharing my research about the topic of Traveling. I am currently doing a major project that explores in depth this subject and how it relates for many aspects in our lives!

When you think of traveling what is the the first thing that comes to mind? A vacation trip to the tropics? An adventure through the amazonian jungle? A cruise to the Bahamas? A flight to France? These are all great examples of traveling, but it can be much more simple than that. In the dictionary travel is defined as "To go from one place to another, as on a trip; journey". This place could be from your house to your friends house. When you are traveling now a days, there are multiple ways to do it. You could be fancy and fly a jet plane to your friends house, or drive a car, or ride a bike. If that doesn't float your boat, you can do it old-school and just walk there. Walking would be in the very beginnings of travel, it is the simplest way for us humans to do so. However as time went on we advanced to find easier ways to travel. It is kinda a hassle to walk 50 miles don't you think? Instead of walking on feet that distance, we could perhaps ride a animal to speed and process and make it less of a hassle. Humans started to use animals like horses for traveling purposes, then it advances more into machines and boats. We would use boats and ships to travel over great distances over seas, but you couldn't travel much on land with a boat. With an automobile you could travel all over your continent, but you can't drive on the ocean. Now we can travel through the skies with our airplanes, this certainly would have helped during the age of exploration. During Age of Exploration many countries had the desire to travel this very reason. God, Glory and Gold. People wanted to spread the word of god, conquer news lands to find glory, and also search for the riches of the world, becoming wealthy. Traveling also has to do with some cultures, such as Native Americans. Their tribes were always moving around the country, and these people are known as nomads. It also varies with cultures, like in Egypt and desert areas, they use camels to travel, while in America they would use horses.

This is some of the research I conducted today to gather information for my project.

Project Time With Jacky!

Welcome to my new blog! Pretty cool isn't it?
